AS OLD AS MY BOOK

In this picture you see me with my friend, Ishak and his son Amir. When I wrote the first draft of the book in 2004, Amir was just born. At that time I had already come up with the draft for a book titled, "Red and White Occasions". I showed the book to Amir's dad and he suggested that I concentrate on writing about Red Occasions first as he reasoned that it would not be good to mix happy and sad occasions. When this picture was taken, it was Amir's seventh birthday.  That is as old as my book.  Hopefully, my book will be published before Amir celebrates his eighth birthday.
Each time I meet up with Ishak, he'd ask me about my book.  Similarly, Lai Yoong's Auntie Josephine would also tell me that she is looking forward to reading my book each time I see her. My friends Kama, Lai Yoong and Eric Ting would tease me about the book each time they are reminded about it. Aiyah!  I get asked a lot about the publication date of my book by my friends and relatives and believe me, I am really embarrassed.  As long as the book is not published I'll have to keep hanging my head in shame.
Tomorrow, I have made a date with Lai Yoong to go to the Tua Pek Kong Temple in Pasir Panjang to ask for Divine help to hasten the publication of my book so that I can hold my head up high again.
