When I went to the Tow Boh Keong Temple in Ipoh last week (see picture below), I saw two Cai Shen (God of Wealth) Effigies, one was brown from a year of incense smoke and the other brand new. When I went to the temple this morning to offer my respects to the 9 Emperor Gods, I saw that the new Cai Shen Effigy has been installed. The old one would have been burnt during a special ceremony.
If you look closely at the effigy, you'd notice two strips of red paper coming down from the eyes to represent blood. Well, there is a story behind the tears of blood. I'd tell them to you in another post. So, do come back and visit if you want to know ....
