There are slightly more than a hundred species of herbal plants in the school herb garden. Each and everyone of them is very precious to me and a few of my friends as they have become like very helpful friends to us. That is why I have placed certain conditions for my colleagues and students when they enter the herb garden. The ladies who are having their menstruation should not touch the leaves or pluck any of the fruits or flowers. We here in Malaysia believe that those with period are considered dirty and the plants would become unhealthy and die if touched by them. I also do not allow my students to simply break the branches or take the fruits and flowers as by doing so might damage the plant. Also, the boys and girls are told not to go near the Herb Garden once dusk sets (around Asar prayer time) as there might be supernatural beings there at that hour. There were cases of students seeing apparitions when they went to the Herb Garden after 6 in the evening. A couple of them fell ill and had to visit the Bomoh or Spiritualist before they recovered. Yeah! We Malaysians are a superstitious lot.
The photographs of some of the herbal plants below were taken by the Herb Fairy. She is in the last two pictures which were taken by the Flower Fairy.
