What I come to know is that the Effigy of the Wealth God or Cai Shen at most temples are changed each year. This is also the case with the Wealth God effigy at the Toh Boh Keong Temple in Ipoh. I took the pictures of the old and new effigies above. Note that the old one has already turned brownish with the smoke from the incense. The clothings for the new one is white. I was told that the new one has not been blessed and therefore there is a red piece of paper covering the face. Once the new Cai Shen has been blessed it will take the place of the old which in turn will be given a fiery send-off.
