MALAYSIAN STYLE SAYUR LODEH (COCONUT VEGETABLE STEW)

A variety of vegetables are simmered in a milk coconut milk curry to make this popular Indonesian side dish. Also popular in Malaysia.
The first time I tried Sayur lodeh was when I visited Haji Hasnin's house during the second day of Hari Raya.  I was told that this dish is one of many served during the festival.  Haji Hasnin used a variety of vegetables to make this dish.  Ingredients like long beans, tofu and tempeh are simmered in coconut milk soup.  This dish is said to have originated from Java, Indonesia.
