From young, I have been told that I must never leave my purse, wallet or handbag empty as it is unlucky. Even if I do not use them, I should at least put a coin or two inside. Better still, one should make sure that the purse, wallet or handbag is full. This is especially so during the Chinese New Year. We want to go into a new year with lots of money in our wallets to symbolise wealth luck.
And if you decide to give someone a wallet, purse or handbag as a gift, then remember to place some money inside. . This would that the bag will always be filled with money.
