MY NEW KAPOK PILLOWS

The Polyester Pillows that I bought when first moving into my new house have become flat and stained.  And that is all in less than a year.  I remember that when I was a child, my mum would make pillows from kapok for me which costs only a few ringgit for a bag.  So I decided to get me some Pillows which are a healthier alternative.  Kapok is soft, hygienic and non-toxic.  At the same time such pillows are breathable, allows air circulation and has healthful benefits.
So I went with Kama to a shop in Seri Manjung to look for a pair.  The shop assistant who sold a pair to me for RM58 gave the assurance that the pillows were made from fine quality kapok.  I do hope so.
Anyway, she also advised me to dry the pillows under the sun before I sleep on them.  I got these tips for caring for such pillows from the Internet and am sharing them with you here.

Caring for Your Kapok Pillow

Before sleeping on a new Kapok Pillow, fluff it in the dryer on warm for about 15 minutes. Also, remember that it can take up to a month to get used to the firm support of kapok.
For long life, use a pillow protector and clean the pillow at least once a season, more often if required. Have it cleaned (by a dry cleaners who uses natural products) or machine wash in warm water using a mild soap (no bleach) on a gentle cycle. A large capacity front-loading washing machine gives the best results. At the end of the cycle, reset to normal spin dry cycle for maximum water extraction. Then, tumble dry with three tennis balls or a clean canvas running shoe. Allow pillow to dry thoroughly - this may require several cycles. Proper drying is important because it ensures optimum loft, hygiene, shape retention and longevity.
Fluff the pillow once a month either in a dryer for 15 minutes with a couple of tennis balls or in direct sunlight in the summer time.
