WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU MET AN IDOL?

I am sure all of us have seen on telly the effect male idols have on teenage girl fans.  One of the common reactions would be screaming.  Many years ago when I visited the Singapore bird park with my sister Lilian, I walked past a Caucasian man and thought to myself where I had seen him before.  It was only after about five minutes that I realised that the chap was none other than Sir Patrick Stewart who was famous for playing Captain Picard in Star Trek.  By then it was too late for me to look for him.  Anyway, I wasn't a fan and so it was not that bad.

But if I were to meet Takeshi Kaneshiro, I'd most certainly recognise him.  Now, he is what I call handsome.  It seems that Mr Kaneshiro observes that all the girl fans are only interested to get his autograph and have their pictures taken with them.  This is proof that they have met him, I guess. He laments that after the girls have done with the screaming, the photo session and autograph signing, they'd be off, not bothering to chat with him.

Here is the article I am referring to.

Takeshi Kaneshiro on screaming fan girls

Asian heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro opens up about himself in a new interview.

The next time you see Asian heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro, do remember to make small talk apart from asking for his autograph or a photo opportunity.
The mega-popular actor, who is of Japanese and Taiwanese descent, said that girls are more interested in getting his autograph or taking a picture with him than actually talking to him.
“The first thing girls do when they see me is scream. They would run to me with a notepad in hand, asking me for an autograph. Next, they would ask to take a photograph with me. After doing these things, they would run away happily, leaving me alone. No one actually talks to me,” he said in a recent interview.
For long enough, the 37-year-old has been an enigmatic presence in the Asian showbiz, captivating a huge legion of female following with his air of charisma and low-profiled demeanour.
For someone as popular as him, Kaneshiro is surprisingly a homely person who rarely gets interviewed. For the times when you don’t see him at press conferences or movie premieres, you can find him in his hotel room hooked to his computer.
“Whenever I’m free, I try to get a rest, accompany my family or play video games and surf the Internet,” he said, adding that his favourite genre of movie is comedy, because it “makes me happy”.

MY TWO SEN WORTH:

Aiyoh, if he wants to chat, then if I ever get the chance to meet him. I'll make sure I talk with him. Obviously, I won't be screaming as I am too old to do so.  I need to take care of my Auntie image, you see.  I am not into getting autographs, only photographs.  And I love to talk.
