I was actually thinking of attending the Jang Geun Suk's show in KL last Saturday but then had to give watching Sukkie live as my mum was not well. Judging from the article, I missed an exciting show. Shucks! Hopefully, he comes again for a real concert.

South Korean sensation Jang Keun Suk teared up with emotion while thrilling the local masses.
Jang Keun Suk rules! Ask any Eel and they will tell you that their beloved Sukkie oppa (a Korean term of endearment for “brother”) is the best. Yes, Jang’s fans are called Eels because that happens to be his favourite food.
During the singer’s show at Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last Saturday, he was moved by the deafening display of affection by Malaysian Eels. Well, you can also add actor and model to his resume. The fans love him in all his career roles.
The all-round entertainer even teared up (something which he reportedly never did during earlier shows) as he vowed to fans: “I’ll never stop because you’re my precious.”
The adulation is far-reaching with Jang (his name is also romanised as Jang Geun Seok) named most influential Korean celebrity in Asia at the 15th China Music Awards and Asian Influential Awards in China two months ago.
Suffice to say, Malaysian Eels could hardly contain themselves during The Cri Show here. The Malaysian leg of his Asia Tour even attracted scores of fans from other countries including China, Japan, Singapore and Thailand. Where Jang goes, the showbiz lingo follows. For the uninitiated, “Cri” is short for critical and is used to describe something extremely cool. Jang’s fan club is also named Cri-J while the Cri Show is his gift to fans.
The South Korean sensation also attended a fan gathering right before his showcase as well as a media conference the day after the show.
Jang, 23, replied to questions and addressed fans in fluent English, only turning to the interpreter when he felt he would express himself better in his native Korean. The lanky lad also dazzled fans with excerpts from a photoshoot in Europe for a pictorial album which took him to Belgium and London among other locations.
A child model at age five, Jang went on to become a child actor, starting out in TV and dabbling in film as he grew up. He now has 14 TV series and eight movies under his belt. He is a seasoned pro in handling fans and the media. Jang is also in the process of filming his latest movie project You’re My Pet, the South Korean adaptation of Japanese dramaKimi Wa Petto.
But enough career updates. At the Plenary Hall, the young man was in his element.
Playing to incessant screaming from fans, he made six costume changes (including changes in hairstyle) and performed 10 songs during the two-hour gig. Video clips and slides of his shows kept Eels on a high in between his numerous persona changes.
Jang opened his show in KL with Let Me Cry from his recently-released first Japanese single of the same name.
As part of his show, the dashing heartthrob also appeared as two of his most recent TV series characters which propelled him to cult status (apart from winning him various TV awards). Out rolled the roles of indie rocker Kang Mu Kyul in 2010 KBS drama series Marry Me, Mary (also known as Mary Stayed Out All Night) and Hwang Tae Kyung, leader of rock band A.N.Jell, in 2009 SBS drama series You’re Beautiful.
As Kang, he talked about his role in the TV series and sang Take Care, My Bus as well as two versions of Hello Hello. Then as Hwang, he conducted a lucky draw quiz (one lucky winner even got a hug from him!) before wowing them with Still.
Professing a liking for long hair, body-hugging attire and guyliner – all apparent in his latest image styling – Jang proceeded to take his audience to the next level with his following segment Lounge H. Along with music producer and DJ Big Brother (real name Kurt Jung) with whom he formed Team H, they had fans in a trance with their electronic party music and clubbing atmosphere.
For his final act, he pulled on an “I Heart Fan” T-shirt and belted out My Precious and Promise, which left the masses in a tizzy and begging for more.
2011 Jang Keun Suk The Cri Show Asia Tour Live in Malaysia was presented by Rhythmland and HS Media.
