GETTING A BAT'S EYE VIEW OF A PLACE

 The Chinese characters above read "Tung Wah Tong" or Tung Wah Cave".  It adorns the top of the archway leading into the temple in honour of the Jade Emperor.
 Lai Yoong is pictured at the staircase leading up to the arch.  This is her fourth time coming up the temple and the first she went up the arch.
Me on top of the arch with the view of part of Kinta Valley as the backdrop.  Though I have been coming to this temple since 1991, this is the first time I have climbed up the archway. Anyway, when I first came here 20 years ago, the temple did not look as grand as it does now.  Furthermore, there was no protective wall along the steps leading up the temple.

The three pictures above were taken from atop the arch.  There are a lot of bats living in this temple and this is   what one calls a bat's eye view.
