CAREFUL SELECTION OF WEDDING GIFT

My colleague, See Yee, registered her marriage to her boyfriend of 8 years during the one week school break in March.  The couple went to Taiwan for their wedding album photoshoot.  She even brought back souvenirs for me.  She and her hubby will go through the traditional wedding ceremony at the end of the year and that is when I get to attend the dinner.  In the meantime, I went to the gift shop to look for a wedding gift for her.
There were quite a number of wedding couple ceramic mugs but I decided against them as they were breakable and I don't want my gift to be an ill omen.  Then there was a wedding couple figurine which was also made from ceramic.  Again, no. I also did not buy the wedding lamps for the bedside as this is supposed to be bought by the bride's side.  As I have never seen See Yee wearing any accessories, the trinket box was also not suitable.  I saw some very red cushions with the design of a wedding couple embroidered on them.  I was tempted to buy those but then each costs RM29.90 and I needed to buy two which would set me back about RM60.  As I had used RM215 to pay for some of my bills and I needed some extra cash to bring along with me to Penang, I decided not to buy them.  Instead I settled on the Double Happiness photo frame which is made from plastic.  It is both auspicious and useful.  I will give them a laisee or angpow when I attend the wedding dinner in November.
