HAM KOK CHAI

Here is a type of dumpling that I love to eat.  It is called "Ham Kok Chai" (salty vegetable dumpling) which Kampar is famous for. This delicious steamed dumpings is filled with sengkuang , some carrots and small dried shrimps and topped with sesame seeds and is eaten with a hot chilli sauce.   The lady who makes this Ham Kok Chai sells it at the Kampung Simee Market on Thursday and Sunday mornings.  One has to go early as they are sold out by 10 a.m.  She sells two types of Kok Chai, one with kucai filling (a type of vege) called Kucai Kok Chai and the one shown in the pictures is the normal one mentioned above.  You get 3 Ham Kok Chai for RM1.20.  It used to be RM1 for 3.  The price of things has gone up.
