CAN I OFFER YOU A DRINK?

"Can I offer you a drink?"  I asked this question to a few of the visitors to my house last week and all answered, "No, thank you."  For your information, the five who visited were Lai Yoong and her hubby, Kamariah and the two technicians.  All of them took my offer many times before this.  It was after they all heard about the corroded faucet and maybe the water pipes, that they refused. 
Actually, the two technicians from TM Net found out by accident about the corroded pipes.  They had come to repair my Internet Connection and had called when I was at the Housing Developer's Office handing them my letter of complaint seeking for compensation.  I told them I would be a while and so they waited.  Unfortunately, the officers at Kar Sin Enterprise (the housing development company) wanted to see me and I was delayed by 20 minutes.  I had to apologise profusely to the two technicians and explained to them the cause of the delay.  The moment they heard, one of them said, "Cikgu, minum air macam ini, buah pinggang boleh rosak." (translated into English it goes, "Teacher, drinking water like this can cause damage to the kidneys". 
You must be wondering why I am pictured with a big container of water in the above pictures, right?  Well, the water was given to me by my good pal, Khairah.  It is filtered water that she brought from her home after she heard that I wanted to make Roselle Juice for the 23 students of the Elite Class I taught during the weekend.  Until the water in my house has been tested and until we are certain that the water pipes in my house are not damaged, my friends will be helping to supply me with water from their homes.

Unfortunately, Khairah was a bit late sending the filtered water to me on Saturday evening as she had something to do.  I had waited until 6.50 p.m. for her in school and decided to go buy water from the supermarket to boil the roselle juice for my students. You can see the roselle petals and the bottles of water that I bought.  I made the juice thick and later bought ice cubes from a shop to add to it.

By the way, I don't drink the water at home either.  I bought fruit juice, bottles of mineral water and bottled green tea to drink.  As it is, people are already giving me nicknames like, "Steel Woman" and "Iron Woman" because they said I have drunk 6 months worth of contaminated water.
