BYE! BYE! MAJESTIC STATION HOTEL
The Majestic Station Hotel which started operation in 1935 and housed inside the Ipoh Railway Station building has closed down.
In its heydays this grandiose Moorish-Colonial hotel was referred to as the Taj Mahal of Ipoh. Many a wedding receptions were held there and at one time it was the happening place to hold such functions.
According to a newspaper report, the hotel premises will be handed back to the Railway Asset Corporation (RAC) as the lease expires at the end of the month. I wonder what will become of it?
Anyway, this place has a great significance for my mum as this was the place where she and my late father held their wedding reception. So, it is a part of my history.

Hi Mr Chek,
You also have fond memories of Station Hotel. I had wanted to go earlier to take pictures of the place once I heard that it was closing down but then I guess I was late by a week.
