AUSPICIOUS HERB: LING ZHI

The Lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum) is considered a magical as well as auspicious herb by the Chinese. In ancient medical texts, the Ganoderma Lucidum is described as a "superior herb".  It is stated that "long term consumption of Lingzhi will promote longevity and make one look like a heavenly being".

Lingzhi is also known as “Ruizhi”, “Shenzhi”, and “Xiancao” which carries the meaning of good fortune and mysterious power.  It is also known as the mushroom of immortality as it is believed that consuming this herb would help promote good health and longevity.

It is no wonder that the Chinese would place a pot of Lingzhi in their homes as a symbol of good luck or as a herb to usher good luck into the home during the Chinese New Year.
