THANKING TAI SUI

At the beginning of the year, the Taoists would pray to Tai Sui of the year (Grand Duke Jupiter) for blessings for a safe and peaceful year.  Before the Winter Solstice or the 22nd of December each year, those who have prayed to this Deity would go to the temples to thank Him.  They would usually bring along oil, fruits and Properity Cakes (Fatt Koe).  At the temple they would also buy an offering set and get the help of the temple caretakers to thank Tai Sui.
