NOT LETTING THE GIRLS OUT OF OUR SIGHTS

Yesterday afternoon, Kamariah and I took 5 of our school librarians to buy blazers from a departmental store in town.  Both of us made sure that the girls were with us all the time and when two of them asked to go out to another shop to buy food, we told them to wait until everyone had chosen their blazers and then we would all go together.
As teachers, the two of us are responsible for the safety of the girls when we bring them out of the school.  Since the girls stay at the school hostel, I told them to get permission from their warden first before they went out of the hostel with Kamariah and me.
We were also extra careful as we had read of cases of young girls being abducted by bad people for evil purposes.  Anyway, we watched the girls like hawks and after they bought the food that they wanted, we sent them safely back to the hostel.  So, you see being a teacher is not only about teaching in the classroom.  We have other duties out of the classroom as well.
