SOFA FOR MY GUESTS ...

I actually had intended to just place my home shrine in the living room and a few decorations like a carpet, a pot of flowers, the telephone table, a calendar and a clock.  I like it very simple but when my mum heard about this arrangement, she made a lot of noise.  She said, "How can you have your main hall looking so empty?"  One of the points she gave was that my guests needed somewhere to sit when they visit.  I then told her that I didn't think I would get that many guests visiting me everyday.  Besides, I said the guests could sit on the sofa set that I would be placing in the TV room or they could sit on the carpet like the Japanese and Koreans.  Her next point would be that she and Aunt Linda would want to sit on a sofa in the living room whenever they visit. She said that they were old and would find it difficult getting up after sitting on the carpet.  Alamak!  Those two only come to my house two or three times a year and their visits last less than a day.  Furthermore, they spend less than two hours in my house and more hours eating at the seafood restaurant and shopping.  For that I need to buy an extra sofa set.
Anyway, I had to finally give in and the two of us went to Courts to have a look at some sofa sets.  Did I choose any?  No.  I am thinking of a way not to have another piece of furniture in my house.  Worse comes to worst, I'll buy the two seater that I am pictured with above.  That too costs RM499.  But then my mummy was not in favour of that design.  She said it was too gaudy and wanted me to get something plain.  Aiyoh!  The things I do to please my old folks!
