I mentioned in the post titled "Beautiful Stage" about a red letter day. One of my visitors asked me what it meant. Well, a red letter day is any day of special significance. It is a day which is considered to be a happy occasion. In Malaysia, the horse-racing calendars would mark special festive occasions with red letters.
The term originates from Medieval church calendars. Illuminated manuscripts often marked initial capitals and highlighted words in red ink, known as rubrics.
