I found a stall at the Kampung Simee market selling the Wu Lou or Calabash. The trader was selling them at RM5.00 each. It was actually quite a reasonable price. Believe me when I say that I know how difficult it is to plant the calabash.
The lady who is selling this says that people usually buy the Wu Lou from her as an offering to be placed on the altar. A read string would be tied around the 'waist' of the fruit. It is rarely eaten. However, my colleagues and I have tried doing so.
