Diego Armando Maradona and Larissa Riquelme both promised to run naked if either of their countries win the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Maradona is the 50-year old coach of Argentina and Larissa is a 24 year old lingerie model from Paraguay. I am sure that if either of them did the run, they would garner a lot of global interest. As we all know by now, both of them can keep their clothes on as both Argentina and Paraguay lost in the quarter finals.
When I told my mum about Maradona's pledge to run naked should Argentina win, she was rather disgusted. I did not bother to tell her about Larissa Riquelme. Anyway, after Argentina was trounced by Germany last night, my mother said, "Thank goodness Argentina did not win. Maradona running around naked in the streets is an insult to Christianity and disrespect to Jesus".
The two most colourful and entertaining characters of the 2010 FIFA World Cup are featured above. Their antics have overshadowed even the players on the field. The departure of their countries from the tournament would mean that Diego and Larissa would also exit the world stage. What a great loss!
