KUIH KETUK UBI

I only tried eating this kuih about a week ago.  All this while it was one of the staple snacks sold at the school canteen.  It is called Kuih Katuk Ubi which translates to mean Cassava Knock Cake.  However, I was told that in English it is actually known as Cassava Fritters. I do wonder why it is called thus?  Any ideas?
