THE GRASS IS GREENER HERE

There was a farewell lunch for my friend and colleague, Ishak.  He had to ask for a transfer as the school that we are teaching in has reverted to being a vocational school and the subject that he teaches is no longer offered here.
We have oft heard the saying that the grass is always greener on the other side but then in actuality one never realises that the grass is just as green where we are.
During his speech, he mentioned that he was really touched that his friends and colleagues of 12 years took the trouble to hold the farewell gathering for him.  In his speech he said that he knew that the grass was and is actually greener here but unfortunately he had to leave for the sake of the subject that he specialises in.  After all this was the first school that he was posted to and where he had taught for 12 years.  All his friends and buddies are here.  This was actually his comfort zone.
Anyway, he won't be missed much.  I am not trying to be mean.  It is just that his new school is just across the road from where we are and he could just drop by in the morning to see us before he goes to school since he is teaching in the afternoon session.
