Do you know that our old fashioned natural lump of charcoal has other uses than for cooking?
It is said to adsorb (this is not a spelling errror) more poisons than any other substance known to mankind. It can adsorb lead acetate, strychnine, DDT, many drugs (including cocaine, iodine, penicillin, aspirin, phenobarbital), and inorganic substances (chlorine, lead, and mercury). It can adsorb thousands of times its own weight in gases, heavy metals, poisons, and other chemicals; thus it renders them ineffective and harmless. It can adsorb intestinal gas and deodorizes foul-smelling gases of various kinds.
That is why I have bought charcoal and put them in bags and placed them near the computers in school and at home. It is said that bamboo charcoal is more effective and one can easily buy these at stores.
Here are some other uses of charcoal:
1.A Natural Dehumidifier - If there is a damp place like a storeroom or basement, fill a container with charcoal and punch some holes in the lid. The charcoals will absorb the humidity in the air.
2.Air Freshener - Charcoal can be used to absorbs and eliminate odours.
3.Keep Plants Fresh - Drop a chunk in a vase or with plants you are trying to root. Charcoal acts as a water purifier and keeps it clear and clean.
4.Keep Books from Smelling Musty - Simply tuck a chunk of charcoal on your bookshelf to absorb odours. This trick works best in glass cases.
5. Keep Your Tools Rust Free - Charcoal helps to remove moisture from the air. So just toss a chunk in your tool box and it will help keep your tools from rusting.
