HERBAL FRUIT DRINK

Wednesday is Herbal Drinks Day in my school.  The Resource Centre Committee will set up stall at the Reading Hut to sell herbal drinks like Roselle, Kiwi Juice, Honey Longan, Loh Hon Kuo and Chrysanthemum drink.  This activity is to help promote the benefits of herbs and also to add to the library funds. 
One of the drinks sold today is the Herba Fruit Drink which is very popular among the students.  The above picture shows three of my boys with this drink.  All our herbal drinks are sold at RM1.00 each.

Here is the recipe for this drink:

HERBAL FRUIT DRINK
(for a serving of 4)

Ingredients
2 Ya pears (can be substituted with apples)
50 grammes dried Longan
4 - 6 honeyed dates
1/2 a cup of Kundur or Chinese Winter Melon  冬瓜 (sliced)
a tablespoon of wolfberries
6 - 8 tablespoons of brown sugar

Instructions
1.  Boil about 5 liters of water. 
2.  When the water is boiled add the honeyed dates and kundur for about 10 minutes
3.  Next add the Ya pear (which has been cut into strips), the wolfberries and longan.
4.  Boil for another 20 minutes before adding the dried longan and the brown sugar.
5.  Leave to boil for another 15 - 20 minutes.
3.  Let the drink cool before serving.
