When I celebrate my birthday I would usually eat a bowl of noodles as it is auspicious. Why? It is believed that the long strands of noodles symbolise longevity.
There is actually a dish called Longevity Noodles or 长寿面 “Chang Shou Mian”. However, I just made do with the Prawn Mee above at a Hawker Centre on my birthday. By the way, one tries not to break the noodles using the chopsticks or teeth, but have to chew on them once inside the mouth.
