NOT TOO FAR-FETCHED AFTER ALL

I have just finished watching the Taiwanese romantic comedy, "Down with Love" and must say I was thoroughly entertained by the funny yet romantic storyline.  At the same time, it puts across the message that one needs to look beyond superficial beauty and appreciate the inner beauty of a person.

In the story, the heroine is someone who is a very ordinary looking tomboy with a heart of gold.  What is attractive about Little Miss Sunshine is that she is cute, innocent and genuinely kind.

In real-life, we will be able to identify Ella's character with many ordinary folks that we know. 

 

This stunningly beautiful actress from mainland China, Chen Zihan, plays Ella's rival in love.  The lady seems to have everything going for her, beauty, brains and also a successful acting career.  At the beginning of the series, she also had the male lead as her boyfriend.

There is indeed a big contrast between the looks of Ella Chen and Chen Zihan.  One is boyish looking while the other is femine with curves at the right places.  Any red blooded male wouldn't think of not choosing her over Ella.

Michael Zhang portrays a successful interior designer in "Down With Love.  He is the second male lead who at the beginning of the series was still holding a torch for his ex-girlfriend but later he too fell in love with the tomboy.

Jerry Yan's character is a successful lawyer who initially hires the tomboy to be the nanny of his orphaned niece and nephew as many of the previous nannies all had the hots for him.  Little did he expect that instead of ridding himself of unwanted female attention, he would find himself falling madly in love with the cute girl with a warm and loving character.

Some people might be thinking that the storyline is too far-fetched.  How could two successful and good looking men fall for such a plain ordinary girl?  Actually this is not too far-fetched after all as I have personally seen quite a number of handsome men married to very ordinary looking women who are of the sweetest nature.  After all not everyone is blinded by superficial beauty.  There are some men out there who knows how to appreciate what goodness that is inside a person.  Well!  If Jerry Yan really falls in love with Ella in real-life and marries her, then that would prove my point.
