KIM HYUN JOONG SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Just as I had blogged about a philantropist from Ipoh who has set up a scholarship funds for students in my country, I read that the fans of South Korean entertainer, Kim Hyun Joong has set up a scholarship fund in his name in order to show their love and support for their idol and as a special present for him.This group of people is from Kim Hyun Joong's fan club 'Kim Hyun Joong Perfect'. Kim Hyun Joong has once told his fans to 'please live life like a flower'. By that I think he meant for them to give joy to others as a flower does.  I guessed that was what inspired his fan club members to bring happiness into the life of the less fortunate.  Last April, his fan club members donated to 'Korea Leukaemia Children Foundation'

At the beginning of this year, his fan club members started a 'Kim Hyun Joong Love Sharing Activity' to raise scholarship funds and up till the time the article was written they had collected more than US$205,690. The fans have allocated US$119,886 from the total collected as 'Kim Hyun Joong Scholarship' and have tasked the Beautiful Foundation Corporation to set up and manage Kim HyunJoong's scholarship as 'University Entrance Fee Scholarship'. This type of scholarship is the first of its kind set up by a celebrity fan club.  The remaining US$85,694 will be used to help local community underprivileged children and teenagers.
 
Idols have great influence on their fans who are most often youngsters who are really impressionable.  They have a responsibility to help inspire their fans to do wholesome activities like what Kim Hyun Joong has done.
