Long before Sir Paul got the idea of becoming a vegetarian, the Hindus, The Buddhists and Taoists have been advocating vegetarianism. There are qutie a number of Hindus and Buddhists who are vegetarians for life. Then there are some who are vegetarians for certain days of the week. For some Taoists and Buddhists, they will go on a vegetarian diet on the first and fifteenth day of the Chinese lunar month or during Wesak and the birthday of Kuan Yin.
I usually go vegetarian during the Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods. I try as much as I can to observe the vegetarian fast during the first and fifteenth lunar days as well. Today happens to be the fifteenth day of the tenth lunar month and so it is vegetarian day for me. Actually I am the only one who fancy going vegetarian in my family. My mum and aunt eat the food to accomodate me. For your information, I took them to another vegetarian restaurant for vegetarian steamboat last night. I am pretty sure both of them are real glad that I am back in Sitiawan and they can eat 'normal' food. Heh! Heh!
