A few weeks ago there was news that 35 prayer mats were found “standing” and performing prayers at a school surau in Pasir Mas. The people at the religious department believes that it was the work of someone who is out to cause an uproar among Muslims.
The standing prayer mats were first spotted by a student of SK Tok Sangkut, Repek. All the prayer mats were found to be standing in several rows, 15 of them in the male section while the rest were found in the women’s section of the prayer hall of the surau.
The mats have since been seized by the department to prevent them from becoming objects of khurafat (superstition).
