A 55 year old mother in China marched 2,000 kilometres in seven months to save the life of her 31 year old son who needed a liver transplant. The lady, Mrs Chen, had to do so because the doctor said that her liver was not suitable because it had accumulated too much fat. So Mrs Chen made up her mind to whip her liver into shape by marching along a dyke near her home and also to go on a diet of rice and vegetables only. She managed to lose 8 kilogrammes and the doctor eventually transplanted part of her liver to her son. Both are doing well after the operation. In her country, Mrs Chen is being hailed as a great mother.
