THE LADY DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH

Roy Chiu and Joe Chen in a scene in "Easy Fortune, Happy Life"

There is this English idiom which goes "The lady doth protest too much". It is also a line in Shakespeare's play, "Hamlet". The meaning of "protest too much" is to insist so passionately about something not being true that people suspect the opposite of what you are saying.

This can often be seen in the entertainment world where the media report that one celebrity has gotten attached to another to have their report denied by the said couple. Often enough, we also read about celebrities stating that the media have cooked up stories about them to sell their magazines or papers. Then after a while, we read stories that the press was telling the truth all along.

One of the latest buzz is that Taiwanese drama Queen, Joe Chen has ditched her Australian boyfriend for her country man, Roy Chiu. It seems that the two have appeared as if they were disinterested in each other when they were acting out scenes for the drama that they appeared in. However, there were rumours that they have been seen in each others company.

Mark my words! I have an intuition that the media is right again this time!
