Even my Malay friends know that the ZZ plant is a prosperity plant. For your information, ZZ is short form for Zamioculcus zamiifolia. Many Feng Shui believers in Malaysia believe that this plant will bring wealth luck to the household.
I have two pots of this plant given as a gift to the school a few months ago. The plant multiplies easily and in no time there were too many plants in the pot. My two students helped me to replant them this morning. I gave the extra plants to some of the staff.
By the way, I also have a few pots of ZZ plants in my house but my wealth luck doesn't seem to have increased by leaps and bounds. As a matter of fact, I think a few of my Chinese neighbours have it in their homes too and they seem not to have become financially well off because of it. Though I believe in Feng Shui, I do not believe that the presence of a particular plant will help to boost our income. If we want more money, work harder for it. That is the most practical advice I can give anyone.
