TURBAN SQUASH

When I was looking up information about the Spaghetti Squash, I chanced upon the uniquely shaped Turban Squash. I keep discovering all these new types of fruits. Wonders never seem to cease.
Here are some facts that I dug up about the Turban Squash.

Common names: Turban Squash; Turks Turban; Turk's Turban Pumpkin; Scotchman's Purse, Ladies' Eardrops; Aladdin's Turban (for the smaller ones)

Scientific name: Cucurbita maxima turbaniformis

Genus: Cucurbitaceae

Description:
The Turk Turban looks like brightly coloured turbans. This squash is streaked with orange, white, red and green. The fruits tend to ripen with the "hat" part facing down into the ground. It is said that the Turban Squash is not too tasty and is used more as decorations. Unlike the gourds, the Turk Turban is not suitable for drying.
