RANGOLI

I have been working on a Rangoli with Baz and our students for a couple of days. This will be one of our exhibits for the Deepavali celebrations this year. Our theme for the Rangoli or Kolam this year is 1 Malaysia. We used green beans, saga seeds, barli, areca nuts and other types of grains to create our Rangoli.
In Indian culture, all guests and visitors occupy a special place , and the Rangoli is an expression of the warm hospitality of the host to the guests. The religious purpose of the Rangoli is with the intended purpose to enhance the beauty of the surroundings and lift the general mood. The materials used for the Rangoli could be coloured rice, fine sand, powder, different sized grains like cereals, beads.
We are still working on our Rangoli and hopefully we will be able to complete it by next Tuesday. Look out for pictures of the finished Rangoli next week.
