ADMIRING THE MOON

In some ancient costumed dramas, one might get to see the Chinese gathered in a garden or pavilion on the full moon night in the eighth lunar month. They would be admiring the moon and also the poetic ones would create poems about its beauty as this is the time when the moon is believed to be at its roundest and the energy emitting from it to be very strong.
In Malaysia, some Taoist families would pray to the moon goddess with offerings of mooncakes and pomeloes. They would later eat the food offered to the goddess. Children would carry lanterns and light candles in the gardens or compounds. In some Asian countries, the people would put the rinds of the pomeloes on their heads after they have peeled the fruit.
