SOUPS AND THE FIVE ELEMENTS


The Chinese have a fondness for soups as they believe that all soups have medicinal properties. To us all soups are based on the Chinese Theory of the 5 elements and that different colours of foods and different taste affect the different organs.

Check out the elements and what types of food they correspond to:
  • Fire: foods that are red in color help to nourish the heart and help with blood flow

  • Wood: foods that are green help to detoxify the liver

  • Earth: foods that are orange and yellow help to nourish the pancreas and help with digestion

  • Water: Foods that are black in color help to nourish the kidneys and fortify the essence of the patient

  • Metal Element: Foods that are white in color help with the lungs
