I watched the last episode of the Korean Version of Boys Over Flowers on the Astro KBS channel yesterday afternoon and loved the romantic ending where the hero went down on his knees to propose to his lady love Jhandi on the beach. Joon Pyo had been away in the States for 4 years while the love of his life was chasing her dream of becoming a doctor in South Korea. At the same time, with her at the medical faculty and pursuing the same course with her was Ji Hoo who was equally enamoured and head over heels in love with her. Yet Joon Pyo and Jhandi's love for each other was so strong that the years apart did nothing to diminish it. Aiyoh!!! Soooo .... romantic. What to do! Like most females I love happy endings where the guy gets the girl. But I do feel sorry for JiHoo though. Personally, I think the girl might also be happy if she ended up with her soulmate, the Doctor Prince instead of the brash Joon Pyo.
One grouse I have about the drama is that Jhandi kept on saying that she is not pretty. Hey! If she is not pretty, then I don't know who else is. Goodness gracious, the young actress is naturally beautiful. She didn't appear to put on a lot of make-up. I guess the Koreans have higher standards when judging beautiful women. Maybe they go for the tall, sexy girls with Caucasian like features.
Anyway, the lead actress, Koo Hye-sun, did a good job portraying Jhandi whom two of the four protagonists are pursuing. If I were in her place, I'd have a tough time deciding who to choose instead of being so resolute.
Do give the drama a watch as the fantasy like story will give you a feel good feeling. It made me feel happy and of course, I will watch it again.
