WISHING SPHERE PROJECT

When I was up in the Singapore Flyer, my sister pointed out Marina Bay to me and she said that the SINGAPORE Countdown (MBSC) to 2009 would be held there. I noticed that there were some objects floating on the bay forming a star shape. Well, it seems that the objects were spheres and on New Year eve there will 10,000 lit spheres of various sizes which will be set afloat in the Marina Reservoir, carrying wishes and hopes of Singaporeans for the year ahead. So, the Singaporeans get to take part in this traditional act of making wishes. The participants get a chance to pen his/her wish on the 10,000 wishing spheres.
I looked up the website and found out that each wishing sphere represents a hope, a belief that the New Year will bring new possibilities and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Those who pen their wishes for the New Year on the wishing sphere and will have their wishes floating on the waters of Marina Bay,the bay of hope and light.
