LAISEE TO NULLIFY ILL LUCK

Those involved in the entertainment industry have some superstitions especially artistes who have to act out roles which require them to die in a scene, be on the operation table, lie in the coffin/mortuary or act as a cadaver. They would usually be given a laisee (which means good luck coming) to nullify the inauspice of having to act out such an inauspicious scene.
Read the article below of Show Lo's beliefs regarding the unlucky scenes and what he does to counter them.

When Filming, Show Lo Believes in Demonic Forces, Helps Coco Chiang Obtain a Red Envelope
When Show "Xiao Zhu [Little Pig]" Lo films, he has lots of little superstitious habits, like when he has to sit in a wheelchair, or put on handcuffs, he has to obtain a red envelope just to take extra precaution. He also doesn't forget to remind other actors to obtain a red envelope as well! When Coco Chiang was lifted into the ambulance, Show had helped her get a red envelope too. When actors do car accident or death scenes, the production usually would give them red envelopes to prevent/avert disaster. Show previously did not believe in such sayings, but after he starred in "Youth of the Butterfly Lovers," where at the end the lovers became butterflies, the production company requested that he keep an envelope, but Show insisted on not taking it. After the filming, he got a fever, and was sick for an entire week. He took medication and they couldn't quite put their finger on the origin of the sickness. So now he's extremely careful and wholly believes in the superstition. Show would also remind the other actors as well, like for instance during a scene in "Hot Shot," where it was arranged for Coco Chiang to have a heart attack, faint, and then be sent to the hospital by ambulance. When Coco saw the ambulance, she was going to get on, but Show stopped her and asked her to grab a red envelope first. This made the very westernised Coco confused.
The 'disaster preventing' red envelopes don't usually contain too much money, about $50 to $100 (Taiwan dollars - about RM5 to RM10). After getting a red envelope, you will just carry it with you for good luck and after the filming, you will take the money in the red envelope and buy drinks for everyone. Basically, you just have to immediately spend it!
