LACTO-OVO VEGETARIAN

In the first picture above, Hong Kong actor, Louis Koo, is seen looking for suitable food to buy for Taiwanese actress, Barbie Hsu. Both of them were in one Asian country promoting their new movie, "Connected" and he realised that the lady had not eaten and so decided to do the gentlemanly thing by buying some food for her. He had to be selective as the lady is a full-time vegetarian. He finally settled for sesame rolls, a dozen of egg tarts and Pu Chay Guo (rice cake). Such a lucky lady! I bet ZaiZai also bought her vegetarian food when they were an item.

Looking at the food he bought for her, I think that she is not a pure vegetarian since Louis bought her egg tarts. So, she must either be an ovo-vegetarian or a lacto-ovo vegetarian. Let me give you information about what the two mean.

LACTO-OVO VEGETARIAN
A lacto-ovo-vegetarian is a vegetarian who does not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but is willing to consume dairy and egg products.

OVO VEGETARIAN
Ovo vegetarians (or eggetarians) are vegetarians who eat eggs but not meat or dairy products. "Ovo" comes from the Latin word for egg.
