Today is double nine day and it is also the climax of the celebration of the Festival of the 9-Emperor Gods. I witnessed the ritual of walking over burning coals in the afternoon which is a departure from the normal practice of performing it at night.
Tonight, there will be the sending off ceremony for the 9-Emperor Gods together with the royal boat. There will again be a procession from the temple to the water source, a sea or river, where the Taoist master will perform the ceremony to send off the deities for the year.
