SPRING CLEANING FOR BETTER LUCK IN 2008

The Chinese people usually start to clear the clutter or spring clean their houses about a month before the start of the new year. They will set aside a day for this cleaning activity to welcome the beginning of the new year. Broken furniture and old unwanted things will be discarded. If possible, it is good to add a new piece of furniture to the house. A cupboard is recommended as it signifies space for more wealth. They can do the cleaning till the last day of the pig year which falls on February 6, 2008.
It is advisable to clean a month beforehand to enable the positive yang qi to settle in. It is not advisable to do last minute clearing and cleaning as it is best to clear the negative stuff before the qi changes.

Oh! You cannot simply choose any day that you want. An auspicious date must be selected that will not clash with your zodiac sign or that of any member of your family that will be doing the cleaning on that day.

Below are the auspicious dates to carry out this activity. There are other suitable dates but I chose the most auspicious. Bear in mind that the dates that I have given are based on the Western calendar to make it easy for you. Note that the zodiac that is in conflict should not be present during the house cleaning activity or simply choose another more suitable date. It is also advisable to do the spring cleaning before noon.
