A SINCERE HEART

Look at the pictures of the lush greenery that I have posted above. Those plants are all herbs. They are said to be good for kidney stones, hypertension, diabetes and other common ailments. These herbs actually front a hardware shop in Kampung Simee that my mum frequents.
Somehow, the plants have managed to thrive and grow so abundantly here. I am told that the owner of the shop, a kindly senior citizen, plants the herbs and distributes it to people who want them. He does not charge a single sen for it. He also sends the herbs to centres that make use of the herbs to treat people. The kind gentleman also studies the uses of herbs for medicinal purposes. I happened to meet him one day and we had a short conversation on the subject. He also gave me some herbs to take back to plant in the school Herb Garden.
I was really amazed that the herbs outside his shop could grow so healthily and bountifully with minimum care. There is a belief that if our intentions are sincere and our actions are genuine then the divine beings will assist us in our endeavours. I am sure the plants outside the shop will keep on thriving and growing more and more as the person who planted them has a noble heart and has the help from the "herb" fairies. Similarly, we should take this as an example for us to follow; to help those in need without any thought of material gain or glory.
