CONTAINING INAUSPICIOUS NUMBERS

To the Cantonese and Hokkiens, the number 4 sounds like death in their dialects and they would usually avoid using such numbers in their car licence plates and house numbers. However, in certain circumstances these cannot be avoided and they find that they are given 4, 44 or 444. So what to do? One Feng Shui way for an inauspicious house number is to draw a circle around the number to contain the negativity. Today I noticed another way utilised by the owner of a newly opened shop in Sitiawan was to place the Chinese character for good next to the inauspicious number - 44好.
