NATURAL VS MANMADE WU LOUS

Wu Lou in its natural form is better than immitations from other materials. Unless it is made by potent material like metal or crystal which plays a significant role in maneovering chi of our surrounding.

STRONG SHAR QI

Porntip Rojanasunan has punk-rock hair dyed purplish red, sparkly eye shadow and a silver fish-shaped ear cuff. She is a celebrity in her home country, Thailand. However she is famous not because she is an entertainer or a politician. Her claim to fame is because of her work as a forensic pathologist. She is given the nickname, Dr Death because of her work with dead bodies. Pornthip has written several books about her work. As the most famous pathologist in her country, she gets regular media coverage with her allegations of abuse and also her , and by her own admission, her unorthodox appearance: punk-rock hair dyed purplish red, eccentric clothing and glittery eye makeup, and platform shoes.

The wraith-like and soft-spoken Dr Porntip has the guts to criticize the police as corrupt and has frequently challenged their findings on many occasions. This is one lady whom I believe has a very strong Qi since she spends a lot of time with corpses which have Yin Qi but at the same time she does not bow to the police and politicians who have Yang Qi.

The Chinese say that people who work with the dead usually have very strong Shar Qi so as not to be overpowered by all the Yin Qi surrounding them. Here is one lady with strong presence that one won't want to mess with.

SAYING NO TO ZOOS?

The lady with the tiger body paint is Amber Chia, a famous Malaysian model. In this advertisement for PETA, she is trying to put across the message, "Keep Animals Free. Boycott Zoos".

There has always been this ongoing debate about whether animals should be placed in zoos for people's entertainment. Actually there are a lot of pros and cons to this issue. Me? I am undecided about the issue. I do feel bad that the animals are not allowed to roam free but at the same time feel that zoos help in conservation and also help to educate people.

WHO WILL BUY?

This is the cover of Adam Lambert's album. He has got this androgynous doll-like look making him like a character from a fantasy. There has been talk that some men might feel shy to purchase his album because they might feel awkward paying for it at the counter. I guess they are thinking that people might think that they are not straight.

So who will buy the album? Very simple, people who like his music who would not give two hoots what others might say.

HAPPENING EVENT: LAU JUAT

One way to give the Qi in your workspace a workout is to hold lots of activities and also events there like the annual dinner function for my school resource centre. The presence of people would activate the Qi of the place and not to mention scare away evil spirits and creatures from another dimension.

GAMBLING LUCK

There was an article in yesterday's newspaper about a 40-year old trader from Kuala Lumpur who managed to win the RM10,000,000 Magnum jackpot. He got the winning numbers by combining the numbers of his child's birth certificate and his own lucky numbers.

As far as I know not everyone is born with speculative and gambling luck. A sifu that I consulted told me that I am one who does not possess such type of luck. She said that I need to work for my money.

BLAME IT ON ONESELF

The couple above are both Hong Kong entertainers. She is Yoyo Mung and her partner is Ekin Cheng. I read in a recent article in the Asian Fanatics News that Ekin is contemplating on ending his relationship with her as her compulsive gambling and penchant for high-risk investments have almost wiped out his savings during the recent economic downturn. It was so bad that he had to come out from semi-retirement to return to the music industry.

At first I was thinking whether there are any Feng Shui cures to help compulsive gamblers who go overboard. When I look at some astrological forecasts, they would advice against some animal signs to dabble in gambling and speculation as they would not have any gains. Anyway, I do not think that all people born under the same astrological signs would have bad luck and also not everyone is addicted to gambling. Actually the one to blame is the gambler, himself or herself.

ACTIVATING THE WU LOU

To activate a wu lou for feng shui purposes, it is essential to tie either a red thread or red ribbon around its "valley". Some natural wu lou is even painted gold or added with special coins to absorb wealth luck. It becomes even more powerful when tied with red string and chinese coin around it. What is more, some taoist masters write talisman and bagua onto the wulou for added protection and attracting some special luck.

WORSE INSTEAD OF BETTER

An Indian model, Gauri Khan, wanted to become fairer and went for 14 sessions of 'glow and pigmentation' at a Mumbai spa. Instead of getting fairer and lovelier, she ended up with a disfigured face. Gauri said her face was peeling, wrinkled and covered in dark ugly spots.

This is really scary. I guess this might act as a lesson to many who seek to have fairer skin by going for all sorts of whitening treatment. However, I am certain that there will still be many others who will go for such treatments as they think that fair is lovely.

CULTIVATING AN INTEREST

My mum and aunt who are into their golden years love to watch television and do gardening the whole day. Sometimes I wonder what I would do with all the free time that I will have when I retire. However, I don't think I can watch so much telly and neither will I spend hours on end in the garden. Some people take up painting while others would do tapestry. Those too are not my cup of tea. One thing is for sure, I will still keep blogging and surfing the net. I will try my darndest not to stop working even after retirement. Methinks the boredom will kill me.
