YUMMY TITBITS

My late father was fond of eating preserved fruits. He would buy lots of these dried fruits and snack on time when watching television. Each time I see these titbits, they would remind me of my dad. I bought two types from the stall today.

Life Destiny, Life Is Always About Choices

By Jon Sim
Life is always about choices. You are here now because you made the choice to be here. And now that you actually are reading this, it is again because you choose to do so.
You may not have realized this. But in your life, you have already been through thousands and thousands of choices. Think about it. What time you wake up each morning, what to have for breakfast, what clothes to wear for work, what time to leave home, which email to read first, where to go for lunch and etc, they are all choices aren't they?
Not of any great significance they may seem though but it is all these choices in life that add up to make you who you are today.
You see. Life is an ever-going cycle. There is not a moment when time would ever stop and each day will just passes by, following by another new day and this will go on and on. Perhaps it has become such a routine for you that having to make all these daily decision become just a habit to you; something that you need not has to worry about; each day passes by just smoothly.
But then again, there were times when days don't seem that smooth? Days when you feel unhappy and maybe even stressed? Or perhaps at this very moment, you are just feeling so, going through stress and unhappiness?
Why would this be so? Why are you actually feeling so now? Because you meet some problem, at a loss for what you should do?
No doubts, this is precisely what is happening. You are now faced with a new problem that is out of your daily habits. You are forced to make a choice over something not familiar to you but which you know would to a certain extent affect your life. Hence, you have to seriously take time to think through before you would make a decision.
And understand this. Even though you are stuck here right now not knowing what to do, time is still moving. Life is an ever-going cycle, remember? In a way, the natural rhythm of life is disrupted.
You see. Those days pass by smoothly because you very clearly know what to do. You know very clearly what choices to be making and which those choices made, naturally lead to a nice rhythm in life. But when you are at loss, this rhythm of life is disrupted; your life just goes out of order and which lead to all your unhappiness and stress.
To get out of your misery, you just simply have to make a choice. You have to make that choice to move on, to get back into the rhythm of life.
Understand this. In life, you can never win all the times. Sometimes we made the right choices and sometimes the wrong. Just who has never done any wrong in his or her life?
Let's face it. I am sure you that you must have previously made some wrong decision in your life too? And what happened? You accepted it and move on, didn't you?
You see. Be it the right or the wrong choices, once you made the choice new choices will open up themselves. Meaning to say, you always have the option to make a difference to things. But if you refuse to make that choice you be just stuck, stuck in your own misery forever.
Picture it this way. Just imagine you are driving alone and you found yourself lost. What would you do? You will naturally want to find back your way and which even if it may take you several tries, you will eventually hit the right path isn't it? Lost for a while though but if you keep a clear mind, not giving up, you will eventually find your way and that happen, you feel happy don't you? And did anyone tell you that you have to do it? No isn't it? You are driving alone remember?
That's life! There is no doubt that we would be lost once in a while. At the end of the day what matters is that we must not be lost forever. Understand the way of life, stay in rhythm with the nature. When you have to make a choice, you just have to.
Now, if you have the chance to get to understand yourself more, your very own life destiny, would you?

WORLD STRUCTURES WITH GOOD FENG SHUI

Kingdom Centre, Riyadh
Kansai International Airport Terminal
Sydney Opera House

City Hall of London
Burj al Arab
The following amazing structures are said to have feng shui principles in their designs according to the Feng Shui Institute (FSI), an international resource and research center for the promotion of traditional Chinese and contemporary feng shui.

Burj Al Arab (The Arabian Tower), Dubai, UAE—This is a unique seven-star hotel, built on its own island in the shape of a sail from a luxury yacht. According to feng shui, this is an interesting example of the earth elements. In feng shui terms this is a wood-type building, which means that it will get a lot of support from its environment. The tower was designed by architect W.S. Atkins from United Kingdom.

City Hall of London, United Kingdom—Its unique shape is due to solar heating which allows it to use just 25 percent of the energy used by conventional buildings. The building looks like a pile of coins that are about to topple over. Will its unique design do good on the banking district where it is sitting? Probably, yes according to feng shui. In its terms this is a metal building. In its position the building will support the locale, good for a municipal building, the Feng Shui Institute says. Architect: Foster & Partners.

• The Kingdom Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—The building is the winner of the “best new skyscraper of the year for design and functionality” in 2002. According to architect Ellerbe Becket, the design is based on historic geomantic principles. This is a metal-type building, in a fire and earth type zone.

• Sydney Opera House, Australia—Its construction began in 1957 by architect John Utzon and completed in August 1973. According to FSI, the structure is surely an architectural landmark of the 20th century. Because of its angular designs, in feng shui terms this is classified as a fire-type building, perfect for housing the arts. However, in its watery environment there may be many disagreement, particularly among the staff, FSI added.

British Airways, UK headquarters—The British Airways’ new headquarters has a unique street atmosphere complete with shops, banking facilities, a library, a fitness club, cafés, restaurants and quiet work and meeting spaces—all for the development and efficiency of its employees. The complex is surrounded by a 280-acre park with three small rivers running through the site. According to feng shui, the floorplan of the building appears to be half an airplane. Due to its angular form, this is a fire building although it looks more like an earth-type building from pictures.

Kansai Airport Terminal, Osaka, Japan—Built on a man-made island, this soaring wing like passenger terminal stretches a mile in two parts and due to settlement the whole thing sits on hydraulic jacks. Wide atriums reach up over 60 meters (200 feet) to the curving ceiling, where colorful mobiles float on a gentle breeze. This water-type building in a water environment is all too perfect for travel and communication, in feng shui principles.

POWERFUL INTENTIONS

Intentions tell others where our goals are heading.
It is our purpose.
Intentions are our motive that helps us to achieve our objectives.
To learn your intentions you must put forth effort.
Sometimes you will feel grouchy, and grit your teeth, yet as you continue to learn you will see a light at the end of the tunnel.
What if you find that some of your intentions actually come from greed, jealousy, envy and so on ?
Welcome to reality, humanity and imperfection.
Yet, you can change those intentions which are not so healthy, to good thoughts.
The key to find your intentions is to consider discovering.
Acquire the determination to reach for the stars, learn about you, decide what you want and move ahead.
Take the action so that you can develop healthier thoughts, habits, behaviors etc that guide you to success.

BABY IN HEAVEN

This evening I received the sad news that my colleague's two-year old daughter died after a short illness at the Ipoh General Hospital. What I was told was that the child had a lung infection. She was the first and only child of Siti Hajar and her husband.
In her time of sadness, I know that she'd need all the support from her family and friends. To lose her little girl would be a very traumatic experience. As I said before, Death is not Bias. It does not favour the young, the middle aged or the old. Once your number is up, then you'd be called back to the Creator.
Here is a lovely poem that I wish to dedicate to Siti Hajar.

I'll Hold You in Heaven
From the very beginning I loved you,
As I made plans to hold you and rock you:
You were tiny and helpless as you lay in my womb,
But something went wrong and soon you were gone;
My young heart was broken, my tears fell like rain,
I'd never known such heartache and pain.
I wonder who you look like, me or your dad,
Do you have my smile and his eyes?
Would you have been big and tall or tiny and small?
We had dreams for you that reached to the skies.
It was long, long ago and I still miss you so,
Thanks to Jesus, I'll see you in heaven.
I'll hold you in heaven someday,
When my trials on earth pass away;
The angels have rocked you,
the Father watches over you,I know you're waiting for me;
I never could hold you or tell you "Goodbye",
But I'll hold you in heaven someday.

In loving memory of Darrell Keith and Melody Joy Taylor.

WORRISOME

This Japanese celebrity Tsuyoshi Kusanagi was arrested on suspicion for public indecency last Wednesday night at a Tokyo park when he shrieked at the top of his voice and ran naked in the park, arousing the neighbours from their sleep. The Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Kunio Hatoyama, called Kusanagi's drunkard act a "shameless" one. Following that clients, who have hired him to endorse their products, suspended advertisements with Kusanagi almost immediately after news of the scandal broke out. Who'd want a drunken streaker to be spokesmen for their products?
Woo Seung-yeon, a 24-year-old rookie actress, was found dead on the morning of April 27 at home from an apparent suicide. She had hanged herself in her closet. The suicide is believed to have been triggered by depression.
Joo Ji-hoon was booked without detainment on the 26th (along with two non-celebrities) for drug use on two occasions at drinking parties in March 2008. Reports mention that his career might be greatly affected and a few of his projects have been put on hold.
Lyricist Ryoji Sonoda (33) was arrested on Monday for the use of illegal stimulants, it has been learned. Police from Tokyo's Azabu ward stated that Sonoda's urine test turned up positive for the drug. He is also said to have admitted to the crime.
Yoon Seol-hee was arrested on April 26 for trafficking ecstasy and ketamine into South Korea from Japan, which she then sold. She allegedly made a total of fourteen trips between August 2007 and December 2008.

The above artistes are a few of those who have been involved with drugs/alchohol or committed suicide recently. There were two Hong Kong celebrities who were caught by Phillipines police for possession of drugs. Another actor in Taiwan was also nabbed for the same reason.
These people are high profile celebrities who are in the public eye constantly. They are idols to many young and impressionable teenagers and their actions might have a negative effect on the youngster. That is why I find the news very worrisome.

VOICE OF AN ANGEL

Aiyoh! I am actually stunned that there are so many young children who have such ridiculously beautiful voices. Watch the video of an Australian boy, Troye Sivan, and you'll know what I mean.
His song carries a message. The video is released worldwide for charity. If I am not mistaken, it is a fund to help the impoverished children of the world.

BODY OF A CHILD, VOICE OF A SOPRANO

Hollie Steel - Britain's Got Talent - Show 3
For three consecutive weeks I have been introduced to three singing sensations from the Britain's Got Talent reality show. First it was 47 year old Susan, followed by 12 year old Shaheen and the latest is Hollie Steel. When this girl opens her mouth to sing ... WOW!

FIRST QUARTER OF OX YEAR

We are already into the fourth lunar month of the ox year. I would like to do a refresher article about what to place in certain locations to either activate the good qi or to protect from the harmful ones.

South sector
For the unmarried ones, try to decorate your bedroom with a vase of growing plants filled with water to enhance both romance & academic endeavors. Don't attempt it if you are married.

Southeast sector
Place a table lamp or install a light bulb in the East sector of your living hall or office to improve financial luck. Actually any type of bright light would do. Placing a cup of water might also help to increase financial luck as well as attract helpful people.

Southwest sector
Place items made of metal in this sector of your room or office to improve both career luck and business deals. To increase financial luck, place a cup of water here.

Northwest sector
Try placing a metal clock or Wind chimes made from the metal element in this location. This is also a sector that develops good human relationships and romance.

North sector
This location indicates accidents, illness and bad luck of all kinds. Decorate this sector with items that are associated with metal element to suppress its negative energy.

West sector
This location indicates accidents, illness. Decorate this sector with items that are associated with metal element to suppress its negative energy.

East sector
Locations that brings gossip, accidents, financial losses, burglary and robbery. Avoid placing items associated with metal element in this sector. You may place a bowl of water to weaken its negative force and at the same time, enhance personal luck especially for sales oriented individual.

Northeast sector
Locations that is associated with human conflict / poor relationship. You may place a Standing Lamp that represent fire to weaken its disturbance force.

FENG SHUI ADVICE

Feng shui is not about buying good luck items.
Feng Shui setting will work in no way, if you do not suppress bad energy at all locations.

ALL BECAUSE HE ACTED AS A POTTER

The handsome young man above acted as an artisan who was accomplished in the art of pottery and ceramics in the popular Korean drama, Boys over Flowers. Kim Bum is his name and because of his portrayal of So Yi-jung in the series, he was invited to attend the 5th World Ceramic Biannale 2009 Korea in Gwangju, South Korea.
Kim Bum (20) was also appointed as Goodwill Ambassador at the event. Imagine, this good looking young man became the goodwill ambassador for this art because of his role and it seems that he got to rub shoulders and hold hands with Governors and other VIPs during the event.
If potters look like Kim Bum, then I guess many girls and ladies would take up pottery. Me too! Kee! Kee! Kee!

GOING AWAY GIFTS

The above picture shows Taiwan-based Malaysian singer, Z-Chen giving the eulogy for a popular Taiwanese singer known as 阿桑 Ah Sang (real name 黃嬿璘 Huang YanLin) who had left a deep impression on many people through her song 葉子 [Ye Zi] [Leaves].
On April 6, Ah Sang passed away due to breast cancer at the young age of 34 years. During the funeral service for the late Ah Sang, her good friends brother-sister duo "JS" and Z-Chen sent her off for the last time. Their parting gifts for her were a delicate recording studio made of paper and a microphone, hoping that AhSang will continue to create music in heaven, always singing her own songs.
In traditional Chinese belief, dead family members are as much a part of the family as those who are alive. They are believed to exist in the "underworld," a place that is below the ground, much the same as the living do on earth, and so they still need things like food, money, and clothing. If the dead are provided with these things, they will in turn bless the living with prosperity and happiness. People also give the dead offerings of money and new clothes, which are made of paper and burned so that their "essence," or spirit, can be used by their departed friends or relatives. Paper money and other necessities are burned, in hopes that through the smoke the money and materials will become real and can be used by the dead in the underworld.

THE FIRST MALAYSIAN IDOL

I was very excited this morning when I got to meet Jaclyn Victor at the same resort that Mona was staying at. Jaclyn was the first Malaysian Idol and I am a fan of hers. She has such a wonderful voice. Not only did I get to take a photograph with her but I managed to get her autograph as well.

FAMOUS LENG LUI

Recently I have not been blogging as much as I used to as I have been busy with work and also my mum's health has been fragile. To make it up I am posting pictures of my leng lui (beautiful girl) Ramona in this blog.
I went with my friend, Baz, and her daughter, Yaya to meet Ramona at her hotel this morning as she was in Lumut yesterday as one of the TV9 artistes for the Jom Heboh Carnival. For your information, this Ipoh leng lui is reading for her first degree in Mass Communication at Universiti Institut Teknologi Mara in Shah Alam. Besides being a full-time student, she also works as a model and actress. You can watch her in the TV9 sitcom called 'Nana Tanjung' which airs at 10.00 p.m. on Monday night. She will also be appearing in more dramas and advertisements in future.

A PLACE FOR HONEYMOONERS

This morning I went to a resort at Damai Laut to visit my ex-student, Ramona, who was staying there for the night after performing at the Jom Heboh in Lumut. The place is lovely and would be suitable for holidaymakers who want to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Newlyweds should try booking into this resort for their honeymoon.
By the way have you ever wondered why we call the period immediately after marriage as honeymoon. Is it because things are extra sweet for the new couple?
Actually that is not how the word originated. There is a history to it and it started from the time of the early Scandinavians. According to tradition, the wedding couple was compelled to drink a fermented honeyed beverage for about a month after the wedding—from the time of one full moon until the next—for fertility and luck. This month of drinking and festivity was dubbed the “honeymoon.”
