In the pictures above you can see the beautiful umbrellas installed at courtyard of The Prophets Mosque (Nabawi Mosque) in Madinah to keep pilgrims in the shade during prayers. These motorised umbrellas are affixed to freestanding columns. Kamariah told me that these umbrellas automatically open at dawn and close when it is dusk.
