WE WATCHED 'MERMAID' ON THE SIXTH DAY OF THE LUNAR NEW YEAR

Yeh. Baz, Yaya and I finally got to watch Stephen Chow's 'Mermaid'. We tried going last night but the tickets were sold out. So we opted for the show at noon today.
I love watching movies by Stephen Chow during the lunar new year as they are usually comedies and have happy endings. It would not be good to watch a tear jerker at the start of the year.
Initially it was all funny and hilarious, then halfway through the movie it took on a serious tone. The multi-hyphenate director cleverly put forth his message of the need to conserve our environment through the plight of the Mermaids.
Kudos to Stephen Chow for such an entertaining and touching movie. The lead actress is a real gem. She reminds me of a cross between Shu Qi and Barbie Hsu.
