STEAMBOAT

Once in a while I opt for eating steamboat or hotpot.  To me, it is much healthier than eating deep fried food. To my foreign blog visitors who are not used to eating steamboat, let me enlighten you on this subject.
It is called steamboat or hot pot simply because a pot of water is kept simmering on a stove.  Nowadays, induction cookers are used.  Then ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table. What is put into the pot?  Some common ingredients are sliced meat, vegetables, mushrooms, eggs, seafood and noodles.  By the way, the vegetables, fish and meat should be fresh. The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce.
Once cooked each person will then help himself/herself to the cooked food. In China, it is known as 'firepot".
